Verona Holiday Hotel?
The city of Verona is a gorgeous destination for your next holiday. The city is located in Northern Italy and is home to roughly 265,000 inhabitants and is one of the seven provincial capitals of the region.
It is the main tourist attraction in Northern Italy because of its artistic heritage. Verona has been awarded a world heritage site status by UNESCO, because of its urban structure and architecture.
Verona had a very big impact on the art and architecture of Italy during the Renaissance.
There are many things for tourists to experience in the city. Verona has preserved many ancient Roman monuments, though they are no longer in use. The city led a massive Roman styled rebuilding after the earthquake of 3 January 1117 but it has still maintained the original beauty that was left behind by the Romans.
Verona is famous for the Roman amphiteatre, the Arena. It was completed in 30 AD and is the third largest next to Rome’s Colosseum and the arena in Capua. It is still used today for the city’s many fairs, operas and other public events.
Another Roman monument to check out while visiting the city is the Roman theatre of Verona. This is one of the older monuments in the area as it was built in the 1st century BC. It was saved in the 18th centry when a wealthy Veronese bought all the houses that were built over the theatre and destroyed them, thus saving the monument. The Ponte di Pietra is not too far from here as well.
The city of Verona is as diverse as they come, as are the citizens themselves. Known as a city of great art and culture, arguably one of the world’s most famous plays Romeo and Juliet was based on the real life stories between the Ghibelline and Guelph families during the 13th and 14th centuries. One of the most famous tourist attractions in this wonderful city is the the Casa di Giulietta, or better known as the House of Juliet. There you will find a bronze statue of Juliet herself, and her tomb is also nearby.
The great culture and ancient architecture aren't the only things Verona has to offer. Many people will use Verona as a base for a skiing holiday, and there are some excellent ski resorts nearby.
